General Dentistry Check Up

Check-up

Your first appointment lasts between 30 and 45 minutes and includes a full examination, also known as a check-up. The check-up consists of the following:

• A thorough examination of all the teeth, gums, tongue, cheeks, salivary glands, temporomandibular joints and extra oral tissue.

• Intra-oral photos

• Digital bite wing x-rays

• Treatment plan and cost estimate

At our practice, this is done with the help of an intra-oral camera, digital x-rays and dental instrumentation. It is very important to the CSD team that the focus lies on the whole mouth and not a single tooth. The whole mouth is examined and all issues are correctly diagnosed.

Digital intra-oral photography has been found to be extremely helpful, to both the dentist and patient, in understanding the diagnosis and treatment of oral conditions. We encourage all patients to engage in conversation with their dentist about their treatment, to help find the correct treatment plan to suit their specific needs.

Comprehensive Examination

In case of more complex conditions, where long term treatment may be needed, a more comprehensive oral examination will be done.

This type of examination can take 45 min to more than 1 hour and includes:

• A thorough examination and diagnosis of all the teeth, gums, tongue, cheeks, temporomandibular joints, and extra oral tissue.

• Intra-oral pictures

• Extra-oral pictures of the face and smile

• Impressions for study models

• Study model analysis and wax-up to determine the way your upper and lower teeth interact with each other

• Digital bite wing x-rays

• Digital Peri-apical x-rays

• Digital Panoramic x-ray

• Comprehensive treatment plan and cost estimate
